Making yourself heard
With the help of the Low German Secretariat (NdS), young people already had the chance to bring forth their own wishes and needs to politicians, like the excursion of some young speakers to the German Bundestag where they met some delegates to whom they presented their Berlin declaration. (see picture)
Berliner Verkloren
This was the first decleration (2022) of young speakers of Low German and was directed towards federal politics. We listed several wishes and needs, ranging from media, schools, access to courses, culture and universities. We presented it to several delegates from the German parliament who invited us and listened to us carefully and interestingly. You can read more on the event in this report.
Neddersassenverkloren
It was a wish of the young people to appoint issues and matters in a specific state as well because some ressorts are organized on the federal level. We started with the bundesland Lower Saxony in 2024 and the main issues were especially education and culture, but also that the state should add the protection of the language to its constitution.
Forderungspapier der autochthonen Gruppen
After a network meeting with young people from the national minorities in Germany in 2024, we created a paper together that describes problems and formulates needs of all the autochthonous groups in Germany, including the Low Saxons. It addresses visibility, discrimination, funding for culture and media and notes that young people are the future.
